The Future Seeps Through

The future does not arrive all at once. It seeps through, drip fed by decisions made under pressure, unchallenged assumptions, adherence to productivity stats and tight turnaround times.

Competencies as a Lens to the future

In this environment, yet another set of skills and assessments is an unwelcome cognitive burden and possibly too time expensive to invest in. So let us consider this conversation, not as competencies to be acquired, but as an advantage to be leveraged. To participate in the future, instead of only reacting to it, means that we need to develop our foresight. Prediction is impossible but we can be responsible. We can explore the future with agency instead of abdication. As our foresight develops we experience insight. Intelligence and data is not enough. We need discernment for the future, to separate out what is truly inevitable from what will happen by default if we take no action. And that leads to transformation, not just change management or quarterly updates, but being willing to face tomorrow without flinching.
