One of the biggest misconceptions about futures thinking is that it’s about predicting what will happen. It isn’t. It’s about exploring possible futures so that we can make better choices today.
As we design them we need to ask:
- Who are we designing the future for?
- What are we trying to protect?
- Are we imagining futures that benefit everyone, or only an in-group?
Neither the future nor the scenarios we explore, are values-neutral.
